Emmy Nomination Predictions: Best Actor in a Drama Series

My Predictions
Steve Buscemi "Boardwalk Empire"
Kyle Chandler "Friday Night Lights"
Michael C. Hall "Dexter"
Jon Hamm "Mad Men"
William H. Macy "Shameless"
Timothy Olyphant "Justified"

Other Contenders - Hugh Laurie "House", Tom Selleck "Blue Bloods", Jeremy Irons "The Borgias", Bill Paxton "Big Love", Peter Krause "Parenthood", Sean Bean "Game of Thrones", Ray Romano "Men of a Certain Age", Simon Baker "The Mentalist", Denis Leary "Rescue Me", Andrew Lincoln "The Walking Dead"
Commentary - With Bryan Cranston gone for the year, and Matthew Fox no longer a competitor, this frees up some space in this category. The top two guys are Steve Buscemi and Jon Hamm, and with his Suitcase episode, I think Hamm finally wins his Emmy for Mad Men. Kyle Chandler got in last year, with the field more crowded, and his final episode is sure to land him a spot again. William H. Macy is a scene-stealer in Shameless, and he is well, William H. Macy, meaning he is a tough cookie to beat. Michael C. Hall had to go through a less than stellar season of Dexter, but he was entertaining as ever. Now, if I were playing it safe I would go with Hugh Laurie again, and maybe I should. But for some reason, I think House has run its Emmy course. Laurie will probably still get in, but I am banking on this fallout, and banking on the potential Emmy rise of Justified. So with that I am going out on a limb and saying that Timothy Olyphant gets his first Emmy nomination.
