18 Animated Films Qualify for Best Animated Feature

The Academy has released the films eligible for Best Animated Feature. There are a whopping 18, which means we will most likely have five nominees this year. Some surprise inclusions like The Smurfs (lots of live action), but the real surprise was the Academy embracing performance-capturing technology, as The Adventures of Tin Tin is in the list of contenders. I think that with so many mediocre films its hard to actually pick five, as none are standouts. I guess some precursors will help us sort it out. Here is the list of eligible films:

"The Adventures of Tin Tin: The Secret of the Unicorn"
"Alois Nebel"
"Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked"
"Arthur Christmas"
"Cars 2"
"A Cat in Paris"
"Chico & Rita"
"Gnomeo & Juliet"
"Happy Feet Two"
"Hoodwinked Too! Hood vs. Evil"
"Kung Fu Panda 2"
"Mars Needs Moms"
"Puss in Boots"
"Rango"
"Rio"
"The Smurfs"
"Winnie the Pooh"
"Wrinkles"

I am looking for the wild card, like The Secret of Kills or The Illusionist, but for now I think I am going to go with these five:

The Adventures of Tin Tin
Arthur Christmas
Kung Fu Panda 2
Rango
Rio

Winnie the Pooh being six, wtih Puss and Boots and others following close behind.
