Tony Nomination Predictions: Best Actor in a Musical

Predicted Nominees
Danny Burstein "Follies"
Raul Esparza "Leap of Faith"
Jeremy Jordan "Newsies"
Matthew Broderick "Nice Work If You Can Get It"
Steve Kazee "Once"

Other Contenders - Norm Lewis "The Gershwin's Porgy & Bess", Ricky Martin "Evita", Paul Nolan "Jesus Christ Superstar", Reeve Carney "Spiderman: Turn Off the Dark", Ron Raines "Follies", Harry Connick Jr. "On a Clear Day You Can See Forever"

Commentary - Breakout star Jeremy Jordan hit the stage twice in this eligibility period, but I think his performance in Newsies is the one to bet on. Raul Esparza has yet to win a Tony, and while I don't think Leap of Faith is going to fianlly get him the gold, it should still be enough for a nomination. Danny Burstein is also Tony-less, and while he will have to battle his Follies co-star, I think that he will easily overcome split votes and make the cut. Steve Kazee should also make the cut for Once. In the final slot, I am going with Tony winner Matthew Broderick. While it is a close battle between him and Norm Lewis, I think the star power of Broderick will win the day.
