Commentary - There is a chance that all six nominees return to the Comedy Series, although I don't see that happening. Modern Family is still the frontrunner for the prize, although Season 3 wasn't as good as its predecessors. 30 Rock had a great season and is still going strong, unlike The Office which as suffered extremely with Steve Carrell, and will most likely not make the cut this year, or more importantly shouldn't make the cut. The Big Bang Theory was so popular this year that it actually at one point beat out ratings juggernaut American Idol, I think it gets in again as well. Parks & Recreation only got two nods last year, but one of them was Best Comedy Series, and this season was triumphant. Curb Your Enthusiasm returns this year, and has always managed to do well in the top categories, so I expect nothing less this time around. Of the returning shows to this category, besides The Office, Glee is the most vulnerable. While its cast remains an uplifting factor, no one can deny that this season was rough, with only sporadic glimpses of the show it once was. With so many new shows doing well, it doesn't deserve a third nod. Of the new shows, Veep and New Girl are the two most likely, especially Veep which has had a great season so far. Enlightened is also a great possibility. Also a great possibility, not a new one though, is Louie. It did really well last year, but fell short of getting the series nod. With this new season, it could break the threshold. Other possibilities include previous nominees Family Guy, How I Met Your Mother, and the last season of Desperate Housewives. Also watch out for new shows like House of Lies, Happily Divorced, Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23, Up All Night, 2 Broke Girls, Life's Too Short, and Girls.

  1. Sadly, my favourite comedy of this year, American Dad!, probably will never get a nom in this category. Oh well.

While I don't think Modern Family is that funny, I think it's the frontrunner in this category. It, 30 Rock, The Big Bang Theory, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Louie and Parks and Recreation are my official predictions.

  2. Those are my predictions as well, with Veep being a possible spoiler over Louie. American Dad and Family Guy are consistently hilarious, and except for that one time, I don't think either will ever get much Emmy glory.

  3. Except for possibly in the "Outstanding Animated Program" category, of course.
