2012 Emmy Nomination Predictions: Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series

2012 Nomination Predictions
1. Sofia Vergara "Modern Family"
2. Julie Bowen "Modern Family"
3. Betty White "Hot in Cleveland"
4. Kristen Wiig "Saturday Night Live"
5. Jane Krakowski "30 Rock"
6. Cloris Leachman "Raising Hope"

Other Contenders - Jane Lynch "Glee", Maya Rudolph "Up All Night", Kathryn Joosten "Desperate Housewives", Kristin Chenoweth "GCB", Mayim Bialik "The Big Bang Theory", Melissa Rauch "The Big Bang Theory", Diane Ladd "Enlightened"
Commentary - It looks like some of the old contenders will once again populate this race. The two Modern Family ladies are at the head of the pack after another good year for the series. And of course, no one should bet against the always popular Betty White, who looks to contend again as well. I would also not bet against Kristin Wiig. She has been continually nominated, and with this being her last year, I don't see that changing anytime soon. It's the last two slots I think that could afford some surprises. Who would have thought that just three seasons in that Jane Lynch is now not a certainty for a nomination, let alone a win. But Glee has been so bad this season, and I don't think her pregnancy story-line has enough bite to merit anotehr nomination, although her popularity as a person, and former winner status keeps her in the competition. I would also look out for the Big Bang Theory gals, the popular Maya Rudolph, and the late, great Kathryn Joosten. But instead in the last two slots I am playing it safe. First, Jane Krakowski has continued to be nominated for 30 Rock, and she has had a great year, although she is vulnerable. Finally, Cloris Leachman got into the Guest category for this same role, and considering that she has won a total of seven Emmys over the last forty years, I think that her name will be too much to pass up on Emmy ballots.

  1. I'm rooting for Betty White, for obvious reasons.

  2. I think Betty White should win. She should have won last year and she has the episode to win this year which is "Bridezelka" in the episode Betty's character plans her wedding and she becomes CRAZY, because she turn into one of those brides that you see on TV. I think it's her year to win!
