2012 Emmy Predictions: Writing in a Drama Series

Will Win - Julian Fellowes "Downton Abbey - Episode 7 (Christmas)"
Could Win - Semi Chellas, and Matthew Weiner "Mad Men - The Other Woman"
Should Win -  A Good Wife or Breaking Bad episode that wasn't nominated
Commentary - Three Mad Men episodes is a lot to overcome, but if anyone can do it, it is Julian Fellowes, Emmy and Oscar winner, and the juggernaut of Downton Abbey. Last year, Mad Men lost this award, and while it looks like it is stronger this year in terms of nominations, I think that it shows its vulnerability. It doesn't help that there are three different episodes to choose from either, although that hasn't stopped it in the past. But Downton Abbey has the snob appeal, and its Christmas Episode was brilliant constructed. I think it is a close race, but in the end the British will rule.

  1. Though I think that Mad Men is the better show, Julian Fellowes is the obvious pick for Downton Abbey.
