Best of the Emmy Awards: Winners - Best Directing in a Drama Series

Winner - Aaron Sorkin "The West Wing - The Shadow of Two Gunmen Parts I and II"

Runners Up - The Sopranos - Heidi and Kennedy; L.A. Law - Pilot, ER - And in the End...

Commentary - For me, the best television dramas in history came at the turn of the century. Two in particular (as you will find out later), have left an incredible imprint on me. One of those was The West Wing. As a political junkie, there was no greater rush than a harrowing, funny, on-the-edge-of-your-seat hour of The West Wing. And the show was no better than when it was dealing with the aftermath of great tragedies or shocking events. This particular episode is one of the most tense and brilliant written, directed, and acted in all of television history. It plays on some of our worst fears, shows us true human compassion in the face of great danger and shock, and more importantly shows how our government, despite its flaws, can respond in kind when the time is needed. An excellent episode in an incredible series.
