Two Bits of Oscar News

One final thing tonight, before tomorrow's Oscar nominees are announced, and will be posted at lunch tomorrow!

1) Cheryl Boone Isaacs, the new president of AMPAS will be joined by Rush star Chris Hemsworth to announce this year's nominees, probably including his co-star Daniel Bruhl.

2) Also, last year's theme was a tribute to musicals (that still feels like a huge pat on the back for the producers who felt robbed when Chicago won, but I will get over it eventually). This year's theme, as announced by the producers and host Ellen DeGeneres is a tribute to movie heroes, ranging from super heroes like Superman and Batman, to ordinary heroes like Atticus Finch. I actually kind of like this, and it fits in with some of the narratives of this year's biggest films including 12 Years, Gravity, and Captain Phillips.

Enjoy the nominations announcement tomorrow!
